Germany also moved to strengthen e-scooter accident liability rules
The Bundestag approved a government bill designed to make compensation claims easier for people injured in e-scooter accidents. This is separate from the eKFV technical reform, but it shows that scooter safety remains an active policy topic in 2026.

2027 Technical Requirement
Turn signals mandatory for newly produced scooters
Newly produced electric small vehicles from 2027 will be subject to a turn-signal requirement and stronger technical safety standards.
Existing scooters: a valid ABE scooter does not need to be retrofitted solely because of the new 2027 technical rules.
