Remove the Front Wheel

Fully Deflate the Tube and Open the Split Rim

- Press the valve until no pressure remains in the old tube.
- Use a 6 mm hex key to loosen the bolts joining the two rim halves.
- Loosen the bolts gradually in a cross pattern instead of removing one side completely first.
- Separate the two metal rim halves and remove them from the tyre and old tube.
A power tool can speed up bolt removal, as shown in the video, but use a correctly fitting bit and low speed. Final tightening should be controlled by hand so the threads are not damaged.

Find the Cause of the Puncture and Prepare the New Tube
Watch from 01:20Do not install the new tube until you know why the old one failed. Otherwise the same nail, sharp edge or assembly error may puncture the replacement immediately.
- Inspect the tread and sidewalls for nails, glass, cuts and exposed cords.
- Check the inside of the tyre carefully. Use a cloth rather than sliding an unprotected finger over an unknown sharp object.
- Inspect both rim halves for burrs, corrosion, sharp edges or trapped debris.
- Compare the new tube with the old one: overall size, width and valve position must match.
Add only enough air for the new tube to hold a soft circular shape. This small amount of air reduces folds and makes it easier to see whether the tube is twisted. Do not inflate it to riding pressure outside the tyre.

Fit the Tube and Confirm Wheel Direction

- Confirm which side of the completed wheel must carry the brake disc.
- Tuck the lightly inflated tube evenly inside the tyre.
- Keep the valve straight and aligned with the rim opening. The tube must not be twisted around the inside of the tyre.
Direction matters. If the tread is reversed or the brake-disc side is assembled incorrectly, the wheel will have to be dismantled again.

Reassemble the Split Rim Without Pinching the Tube
Watch from 02:00- Insert the rim half without the brake disc into the centre of the tyre.
- Place the rim half with the brake disc onto the opposite side.
- Guide the valve through its rim cut-out without pulling or bending it.
- Look around the complete split line and make sure no section of inner tube is trapped between the metal halves.
- Start every rim bolt by hand, then tighten gradually in a star or cross pattern so the halves close evenly.
If the halves do not meet evenly, stop. Do not use the bolts to crush the rim closed against resistance. Reopen it and check for a trapped tube, misaligned valve or incorrectly seated tyre.
Checkpoint: The rim gap is even, the valve is centred and no rubber is visible in the split line.

Inflate in Stages and Seat the Tyre Evenly
Watch from 02:25- Add a small amount of air and inspect both sides of the tyre.
- Check that the bead line is even around the rim and the valve remains straight.
- If the tyre bulges, dips or pulls the valve sideways, release the air and correct the seating.
- Continue inflating to the pressure specified on the tyre sidewall or in the manual for your exact model and tyre.
The thumb-pressure check shown in the video is useful for monitoring firmness, but it is not a substitute for a gauge. Correct cold pressure helps prevent pinch flats, uneven wear and unstable handling.

Reinstall the Wheel and Complete the Safety Test
Watch from 03:00- Rebuild the first side of the axle with its washers and retaining hook in the photographed original order.
- Guide the wheel into the fork and carefully place the brake disc between the brake pads.
- Push the axle fully through the fork and wheel hub.
- Install the retaining hook, washers and nut on the opposite side in their original order.
- Use two 18 mm tools to tighten both axle ends securely and evenly.
- Spin the wheel by hand and apply the front brake several times before testing the scooter.
The wheel should rotate smoothly without lateral movement. Stop if the brake disc sits outside the caliper, the wheel is not centred, hardware is missing, or the axle does not seat correctly.

Final Safety Checklist
Complete every check before returning the scooter to normal use.
- Split-rim bolts are evenly and securely tightened
- No inner tube is visible at the rim joint
- Valve stem is straight and the cap is fitted
- Tyre bead line is even on both sides
- Cold pressure matches the tyre or manual specification
- Axle washers and retaining hooks are in the original order

How to Reduce Future Front-Tube Punctures
- Check cold pressure regularly. Underinflation allows the tube to fold and pinch against the rim when the wheel hits a pothole or kerb.
- Inspect the tread before longer rides. Remove embedded debris before it works through the tyre casing.
- Do not exceed the marked pressure. Use the specification on the fitted tyre or the correct model manual, not a generic number from another scooter.
