JOYOR Riding Guide
After fitting your kit, check the compatible Y8S round display, verify the key parameters and save your changes.
Check the display settings after fitting your kit
After fitting a matched speed-unlock controller and display to your JOYOR Y8S, check the display configuration. Wheel diameter, speed-sensor magnet settings and the motor-drive signal percentage need to match the installed kit. Incorrect values can produce inaccurate readings or unexpected response.
This guide covers the compatible Y8S round display with MODE and Power buttons. Start with P06, P07 and P15, then check the start mode and initial response. Settings that already match the kit instructions can stay as they are.
The reference values below apply to the compatible display configuration described here. They are not universal settings for every original Y8S display, replacement display or motor upgrade. Confirm the display and controller versions match your installed system.
Step 1: Open the parameter menu
Park the scooter securely, leave the throttle released and turn the power on. Photograph the current settings before changing them.
Hold MODE and Power together for approximately 3–5 seconds to open the parameter menu.
Once the menu is open:
- Short-press Power to cycle through the P parameters in one direction until you reach the required item.
- Short-press MODE to select that parameter and enter value adjustment.
- While adjusting the value, short-press MODE to increase it and Power to decrease it.
The Power button has different jobs in these two states: before selection it cycles through parameters; after selection it decreases the selected value.
Step 2: Check P06, P07 and P15
P06: Wheel diameter
The reference value is 10 inches.
For this compatible configuration with the corresponding 10-inch wheel assembly, check that P06 is 10. Wheel diameter is used in speed calculation. Changing it to make the display show a different speed does not improve the scooter’s actual performance.
If the wheel assembly or display has changed, confirm the correct setting for that configuration first.
P07: Speed-sensor magnet count
The reference value is 30 within a setting range of 1–100.
Check it against the requirements for the fitted motor, controller and display. A kit that also replaces the motor may need a different configuration; the model name alone is not enough to confirm 30.
P07 is a speed-calculation setting, not a motor-power level.
P15: Motor-drive signal percentage
The reference value is 100%.
Compare P15 with your matched kit instructions. If the kit requires 100 and the displayed value is lower, adjust it to the specified value. Here, 100 means the full drive-signal percentage available through this setting. It does not change the motor’s rated wattage or guarantee a particular top speed.
Step 3: Check starting and riding preferences
These parameters affect everyday operation. They do not all need to be set to their maximum after an upgrade.
Swipe to compare all parameters →
| Parameter | Function | Reference values | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| P02 | Units | 0 = km/h; 1 = mph | Select your preferred unit and check the main screen. |
| P04 | Auto-sleep | 0 = off; 1–60 = minutes | Choose a suitable idle timeout. |
| P06 | Wheel diameter | Reference: 10 inches | Match the wheel assembly and kit specification. |
| P07 | Speed-sensor magnet count | 1–100; reference: 30 | Match the fitted motor and display configuration. |
| P09 | Start mode | 0 = zero start; 1 = kick start; reference: 1 | Setting 1 requires a push-off before motor engagement. |
| P12 | Initial response | 0 = weak; 5 = strong | Use a response you can control; a gentler setting can help during initial checks. |
| P15 | Drive-signal percentage | Reference: 100% | Follow the matched kit instructions. |
| P16 | Cruise control | 1 = on; 2 = off; reference: 2 | Keep it off during initial checks. This differs from the S5-series setup. |
| P99 | Factory reset | Reset function | A reset is not required for this parameter check. |
The unit mapping and cruise-control values in this table apply to the compatible display configuration described here.
Step 4: Save and recheck
After adjusting an item, hold Power to save. To adjust another item, you can turn the scooter back on, reopen the menu and repeat the sequence. This keeps parameter navigation separate from value adjustment.
Turn the scooter back on and revisit P06, P07 and P15 to confirm the values were retained. Check the speed unit, start mode and cruise status as well.
Make the first check at low speed in an open area where the modified configuration is permitted. Confirm the display, starting response and brakes behave normally before any further riding. The first check is not a top-speed test.
If the scooter still behaves unexpectedly
The speed reading looks wrong:
Check the P02 unit, P06 wheel diameter and P07 magnet setting against the installed kit.
The display powers on but the scooter does not start:
Check P09 first. Setting 1 requires a push-off. If it still does not work normally, ask support to check the kit compatibility.
P15 is 100 but the speed is below expectations:
P15 does not remove every hardware restriction by itself. Check the fitted kit, battery condition, tires and riding conditions instead of changing unidentified parameters repeatedly.
Send JOYOR support your model, kit order information, a display photo and the current P06, P07 and P15 values for version-specific assistance.
